As our Brian Madden Live! podcasts have gotten more frequent and more interesting, we've been exploring the idea of putting together transcripts of each show. Printed transcripts will serve two purposes:
- They will provide access to the show content for people who are unable or prefer not to listen to live audio versions of the show.
- They provide a way for Google to "index" the audio show, providing text results of show content which may lead people to listen to a show that they weren't previously interested in.
To that end, we've compiled a transcript of last month's show where I interviewed Citrix's chief architect, Brad Pederson. You can access the transcript via the link on that show page or by clicking on the thumbnail image to the left.
One way that we could do transcripts of all our shows is if we could get a transcription sponsor. The idea would be that we would ask for something like $1000 for four shows, and the sponsor would get their name mentioned in the show, as well as on the cover of the transcript and on the footer of each page. That would cover the transcribing costs for us, as well as cover our time to proofread and clean up the work that the transcription company does.
So, I ask you, the community... Do you like the idea of podcast transcripts? Is it worth our time creating these? Do any vendors out there want to step forward with transcription sponsorship?
If we can find a sponsor, I'd love to immediately transcribe the four recent podcasts I did with Citrix: The Presentation Server future, Project Trinity, Project Tarpon, and the Mark Templeton interview.
