It's hard to believe it's this time of year again! We have just brought the BriForum Spring 2007 website live. (Remember that BriForum Spring 2007 will be from April 23-25, 2007 at The Gleacher Center in Chicago.)
The biggest news about BriForum (other than moving it to Chicago) is that we're slightly evolving our focus. The past three BriForums had an "official" focus on server-based computing (Citrix, terminal server, thin clients, etc.) As you know, I've been talking a lot recently about how we (the SBC community) need to evolve our focus away from pure server-based computing and more towards application delivery in general. At the past few BriForums, we've had some technical sessions about "complimentary" technologies like Softricity application streaming and VMware-based VDI solutions.
At BriForum 2007, we're making it official. Instead of being a "Server-Based Computing" conference, we're going to be an "Application Delivery" conference. This means that we'll officially look at server-based computing, application virtualization, application streaming, virtual desktops, etc. Essentially, if the technology is used to deliver applications to users, we'll talk about it at BriForum.
It's important to note that BriForum will NOT become a "virtualization" conference. We don't care about virtualization for the sake of virtualization. What we care about is how users access their applications. If that involves virtualization, great! But we're not going to talk non-application virtualization topics.
A few important notes.
- Like BriForum Europe, we are inviting you, the community, to submit proposals to speak at BriForum. Proposals are due in a month, so start thinking about the topics that you'd like to talk about! (As always, if you're proposal is selected then we'll give you free admission and pay all of your travel expenses.)
- Attendee registration is also open. We're keeping the prices the same as last year. Early-bird registration is $695, and valid through the end of the year. Starting January 1, 2007, the registration price is $895.
- Again, we'll be video recording all of the sessions, and DVDs will be available for those who can't make it for $450 after the conference.
- This year we will offer day passes to the conference. If you live in Chicago, but you can't get out of the office for three whole days, you can buy a single day conference pass for $399.
