Ron Oglesby, Scott Herold, and I have been working on a VMware ESX Server book for the past year. It's now available in stores and on Amazon.com. (It's the #1 VMware book there and currently has a 5-star reader rating). We have also bundled a few chapters and the table of contents into a single PDF available as a free download.
Ron and Scott have been working with VMware for a long time, and they're the two authors of this book. It's part of our "Advanced Technical Design Guide" series. This means it's a real-world field guide that talks about how ESX Server actually works and gives you real information about how you can design your VMware environments.
Even though I published the book, we're going to track errors, comments, and talk about the book over at Scott's site, www.vmguru.com (with the book's official homepage being www.vmguru.com/books). The reason for this is that while I am very interested in VMware, I the focus of BrianMadden.com will continue to be server-based computing. Scott is one of the leaders in the VMware community, so that's why we're keeping the book information over there.
