Have a tech question? Here's how to get an answer.

A lot of people email me their technical questions about Citrix or server-based computing. As much as I'd like to provide free technical support to people, it's gotten to the point where I get too many questions to answer individually. Therefore, I've put together this article to help you find answers to your technical questions.

First of all, I would encourage you to do a search on my site and read through the articles. I can't tell you how many questions I get each day whose answers are clearly explained in articles on my site. The search box is a great starting point, as is this page that explains how my site is organized.

If the question is not answered on my site and if you've already searched Google Groups, then you'll need to post your question to a support forum. My personal favorite is at forum.brianmadden.com. ;-)

In addition to these forums, you can also send an email to the THIN list. This is an email distribution list moderated by Jim Kenzig. It uses freelists.org technology. You can subscribe to the listserv by accessing the list's homepage. This is a very active list with about 2000 members and usually almost 100 emails per day. I personally am very involved in this list. It's where I offer tech support and the first place I post questions when I'm stuck or confused. (You might want to do a quick search of the THIN list's archive before posting a question though.)

For Citrix-related problems, you can also use Citrix's own support forums. There are some very active folks that constantly monitor those boards, and they brag that most questions are answered in ten minutes.

I promise you that if the folks in either of these two lists can't help you, then I won't be able to either!

I found www.experts-exchange.com a very valuable and helpful resource. Experts-exchange.com is however not limited to server based computing related issues.

It's an excellent site, with a number of forums, including this one for Terminal Services. There's a LOT less noise than some of the list serves out there...and much deeper technical know-how.

Christa just completed a move across country so the site has not been as active...but a TON of really in depth content is there now with more to come every day. (Yes, Christa does work as triCerat's Senior Technologist, but her site is absolutely, completely independant...and COMMERCIAL FREE!)

I 've been fighting with this for two weeks already.
We created a public folder called "outlook security settings" in the public folders which enables access to a COMM dll within outlook . This works fine while connected on a desktop but
when on citrix we get a security warning that "A program is trying to access email addresses you have stored.."
we have added a registry key in HKEY_Current _user to set the CheckAdminSettings to 1.
Anybody seen this??
