As many readers know, Ron and I have been very happy with Microsoft’s MVP program and we would like more vendors to create such a program. (We wrote about this extensively a few weeks ago.)
I’m happy to announce that I’ve been contacted by Bob Kruger, Citrix’s CTO and Senior Vice President of Product Development. Bob told me that Citrix has decided to create a program that’s similar to Microsoft’s MVP program. This program is tentatively be called the CVP program, short for “Citrix Valuable Persons.”
Citrix is just in the early stages of putting this program together, so details don’t really exist yet. I’ll be getting together with Bob and the other product managers at Citrix in the next month or so to discuss ideas for what this program can be.
I want to stress that Citrix is just now starting to put this program together, so it will probably be a while before it’s officially launched. I’ll post updated information as it becomes available.
The bottom line is that it took Microsoft 20+ years to transition to a culture of openness where they embraced the community instead of always being defensive. By stepping up here, Citrix has the potential to do great things too.
