Brian & Gabe Live #40: Dan Brinkmann and Jarian Gibson join us to talk Citrix licensing. Plus, we found Laura Whalen!

For our 40th Brian & Gabe Live show, Dan Brinkmann (@dbrinkmann) and Jarian Gibson (@JarianGibson) joined us to talk shop about the industry as well as to have a sort of Festivus-like "airing of the grievances" with regards to Citrix Platinum licenses. This stems back to a Twitter conversation we had during Synergy in Barcelona about how the value prop of Platinum isn't where it needs to be, and about how Excalibur might solve some of those problems. Observers of the conversation were somewhat surprised, and since we're not selling these products we somewhat unaware of the situation, so we thought we'd have Dan and Jarian on to explain it.

We welcomed Oracle into our San Francisco studios today, to find out what Oracle is up to in the desktop virtualization space. We had a visit from John Renko earlier this year going over the Oracle VDI solution, and he's back with colleagues to fill us in on the rest of the solution set as well as cover some changes in storage. We took a look at Oracle's Secure Global Desktop, discussed Sun Rays and how they differed from the rest of the thin clients on the market, and dived into storage options in Oracle VDI.

Today we welcomed Citrix/Virtual Computer guest Dan McCall. As you recall, Citrix bought Virtual Computer last month and it's now part of the XenDesktop suite. But what about XenClient? Does Virtual Computer compete against XenClient? Or complement it?
