We'll be blogging here about all things BriForum. We'll answer questions people have, make announcments, and help get you ready for the next BriForum.

BriForum 2008 Chicago will be the global BriForum this year

We decided that we're not going to have a separate BriForum conference in Europe anymore. It's just too much work for our little four-person company. BriForum is such an awesome event that takes so much energy and so much time, and we realized it's just not realistic for us to do two each year.

40 BriForum 2008 Chicago sessions announced

Today, we're officially announcing the first batch of sessions that we'll have as part of our sixth BriForum in Chicago from June 16-18. (We'll have 60 sessions total. I still have to work out some more details with a few presenters, which is why we're only looking at 40 sessions so far.) We've never had separate "tracks" per se at BriForum, since this was a narrowly-focused conference that centered on Citrix and Terminal Services. Over the years we've slowly...

Help us choose the sessions for BriForum 2008 Chicago

As you know, BriForum has been and always will be a community event. Each year we invite anyone and everyone to submit abstracts for the technical breakout sessions, and then we choose the 40 or 50 sessions that we'll present. (Actually, it might be a bit fewer this year because we're increasing the session length to 75 minutes. But we'll still have four separate rooms going at the same time.) Our "call for papers" deadline was April 1. We committed to announcing the...

BriForum 2008 Chicago: Session Submissions due tomorrow

Do you want to speak at BriForum 2008 at the Chicago Navy Pier from June 16-18? If so, please submit your session proposal by midnight tomorrow (April 1). We've received proposals from about 50 different folks so far covering well over 100 sessions. Many of the expected names are on the list, but like in years past, we're looking forward to hearing from first-time presenters as well. As always, if we accept your proposal, we'll pay for your BriForum admissions as well as your airfare...

Our plans for recording videos at BriForum 2008 Chicago

In today's Road to BriForum article, we're going to take a quick look at the various technology voodoo that we use to run the actual BriForum conference. Ever since the very first BriForum in 2005, we've recorded the breakout sessions so that attendees could watch the sessions later, and so that non-attendees could buy DVDs of the content. We've slowly improved our video quality over the years, culminating with our current side-by-side Flash-based video player. One thing that has NOT...

How relevant is BriForum? One-third of all BriForum 2007 Chicago exhibitors have been acquired by larger companies in the past year!

Today's blog is part of our new Friday series, "The road to BriForum." Now that we launched the BriForum 2008 Chicago website, Emily and I can work more closely with companies participating in this year's BriForum DEMO lab (me from the technical standpoint and Emily from the logistics standpoint). Meanwhile Gabe will be busy building the prototype of our recording appliance (a topic for a future Friday post) and Lara will be running the business from Pennsylvania. So there...

The Road to BriForum: A DEMO lab this year!

Gabe, Emily, and I just launched a new blog called "The Road to BriForum." We're going to post to this blog each Friday, writing about all the behind-the-scenes stuff it takes to make BriForum happen each year. This year we also have a TON of new ideas and new things that we're doing, and quite frankly, we want a chance to brag about them a bit! :)For this first post about The Road to BriForum, I'd like to talk a bit about the vendors who will be at this year's event....

The Road to BriForum: A lot of changes this year!

Have you ever wondered what it takes to put together a conference for 500 people? People are always asking Gabe, Emily, or me about BriForum. They ask about the technology or the logistics or what it takes to really put together this conference. So to answer those questions, we decided to create a new blog called "The Road to BriForum." We'll post a new entry here at each Friday that provides a bit of a glimpse behind-the-scenes as to what it really takes to put together an event...
