Seeing Kevin Goodman's name in the Brian's article yesterday reminded me of a great session that he presented at BriForum in Amsterdam.  In "Don't Terminate that App: Four Things to do Before Killing that Rogue Process," Kevin talks about what to do (and what not to do) before killing that hung process.  From the session description:

"When a process goes "rogue" and starts consuming CPU or memory, most admins typically kill the process -- ending all chances of figuring out what went wrong. In this session, Kevin Goodman explains four things to be done prior to terminating a process that will help determine why the process went rogue in the first place and how to prevent it from happening the next time."

There is a link to the Zip file containing Suspend.exe under the image, just in case it's not working, here it is again.

Can this be used on a Windows 2000 server? With a running process?

The code is not using any APIs that are XP or SRV03 only so it should work. Are you having problems?

Having issues trying to suspend a running process on a W2K server,it never runs the adplus.vbs.I have the debugging tools on the server and the symbols location(s) are correct.Thansk for the Help Kevin,I have really enjoyed your presentations and they have provided a great deal of help.
