Anyone running CAG as a Virtual machine? Interested to see anyones
experiences or pros and cons of running CAG as VM. How is the performance?
Some of the posts say the performance is terrible because the virtualization
layer has to translate the TCP/IP calls. Also,is this a violation of the Citrix
licensing agreement? Citrix technically still considers this an appliance.

This is supported but not legally by licensing agreement because Citrix doesn't create the VMware CAG appliance for it yet but you can go with this route instructed very nicely and I've successfully done with with test/dev labs and just didnt' get the approval for production because politics and licensing involves.

I would think it is perfect choice for virtualization as far as redundany goes and make sure networking and security folks involve.

It is indeed 100% a breach of license to run CAG as a VM.
I understand that Citrix used to have a VM of the CAG available (to allow engineers to get experience of the product), but found that some guys were actually using VM'ed CAGs to do Proof of Concept, and were wanting support, had performance issues etc.
Not too surprising that Citrix got upset by that.
However, i understand that many engineers stull run CAG as a VM, but really just for "self education"..

This is strictly for proof of concept and education purposes only, I wouldn't recommend running CAG in a VM without proper license. But if fully license and this can run in VM fine if you manage to configure CAG/ESX correctly.
