I have a set of servers in my DR site that have no users on them. At that time, I find that the Indexing Service (cisvc.exe) is consuming 100% of 1 CPU. When I log onto the server, it backs down, and when I log off, it revs up again.

Do I need this service? Why is it constantly indexing? Nothing is changing.

We run CPU/Memory, etc reports, and this service makes an "idle" server look like it's busy.

Hi,

I always disable the indexing service, it's a CPU hog as you noted and doesn't really seem to speed up searches much anyways.

Cheers,
