Hi -

Does anyone know the registry key to disable adobe 9 reader auto update?

You may want to check out this page:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/solutions/it/

They have a tool to customize the installer, which you can use to disable the auto update as well other distractions such as EULA.

yeah, I found that, but it only referenced 7.0 and 8.0, not 9.0.

I used those settings on 9.0 and it seemed to stop the EULA and the Auto Update.

Keys added were:

Add the following value in the FeatureLockdown key to disable the auto update feature:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\FeatureLockdown] "bUpdater"=dword:00000000

add the following key and associated values to disable the EULA:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AdobeViewer]

"EULA"=dword:00000001
"Launched"=dword:00000001

I would recommend creating an ADM template and importing these settings into there and then creating a group policy to disable your Adobe updates. At least then you can roll it out along your farm and not have to tweak the registry on every single box.

little reminder. If you create a so called Tatoo policy and you want to remove the policy disable the policy before removing it. Tatood policies do not automaticly remove there settings if deleted like the Microsoft policies do.

He's refering to Windows NT 4.0 type of system policies which are essentially hard coded registry values. When these types of policies fall out of scope, the settings that they implemented are still retained since they are "tattooed" in the registry.

In contrast, fully managed policies are dynamically applied (and removed) at logon as GP settings fall in/out of scope.

 Hej,

I would recommend you to download Adobe Customization Wizard 9, where you can load the msi file and disable the updates etc. and then save the file as .mst

hi there thank you for the reply but let say i have about 600 pc's in the domain and every pc have adobe already installed?  is there not a GPO or something that could tell every pc not to update the adobe application?

I think the guys were saying, use the Adobe Cutomisation wizard to create the MST to Install onto a Machine to get the registry keys to create the gpo (a tatoo) to deploy to the 600 machines to eat the spider.

 I hope you meant 600 Terminal/Citrix Servers (just kidding) Stick out tongue
