I realize this may not be the right place to ask this question, but I couldn't find any other thin client forums. Is it possible to use one of HP's or Wyse's new thin client notebooks as a standalone computer if I add an SD card as a "hard drive"? I'm looking for a fanless 12-14 inch laptop, and the only other option appears to be the Panasonic Toughbook (which is very expensive).
Thanks!

This depends on what applications you wish to run. I've had issues installing AT&T VPN software on the Wyse X90. This software is required for a healthcare billing company. I believe this is possibly due to the XPe vs a full version of XP. I didn't spend a major amount of time on this, so it may be possible with some addon software.
You may want to try virtualized apps such as VMware ThinApp or portableapps.com apps that can run from a USB stick. If you want to use it as a basic email/web system I think they're great at that. If you have a virus, just reboot!!
From a legal perspective you may want to look at this link:
