Hi,

Can anybody let me know about licensing?

I know for citrix we required MS Terminal Server CAL License.
I am new to Citrix. Sorry for asking such basic question, but I am bit confuse here.
I would like to know is citrix selling bundle licenses MS TS CAL + Citrix or we need to buy separate MS TS CAL?

Terminal Services licensing rules are the source of much confusion so you are not alone in asking this question.

In short you have to buy licenses from Citrix for Presentation Server (XenApp) based on the maximum number of concurrent users you expect, and you have to buy TS CALs from Microsoft based on the total number of users or devices you expect will connect to your environment.

There ar futher complications if you provide services to other organisations, but I'll skip them unless you ask for specific help on that.

For more detail on the TSCAL rules I'd suggest you start here.

Hope this helps

Hi,

The only Citrix product that I'm aware of that bundles TS CALs with Citrix licenses is Citrix Access Essentials (CAE). CAE is XenApp's baby brother (targetted at SMBs) and as such has a 75 user limit per server group. The Citrix licenses are also named licenses (tied to a specific user) rather than concurrent licenses.

However, you don't need to have bundled licensing...

Have a look at this article for more information on TS/Citrix licensing:
