I have a VIP user that is having issues with the ICA Client 10.00.600 and Mac OS X Leopard. He is connecting to the farm without issue through Citrix Web Interface 4.0 using Firefox. The issue arises when he is typing as it looks like both his Shift and Caps Lock keys are not recognized. This is hampering his ability to get work done efficiently from remote locations. Any ideas or help is greatly welcomed. Thank you in advance.

Try the 10.15 client. Also, are you sure he is actually using the proper client. From the sounds of things (the SHIFT and CTRL keys being dropped) it almost sounds like he is using the Java client, as that is a common complaint with it.

As the end user is a home user I cannot be 100% positive he is using a certain client. However I sent him the link to the download and he is a pretty savvy end user. He should be using the latest version of the client as that was the link I sent him. He and his wife just had their first child, so I am waiting for him to have some free time at home to try again. He has a laptop issued by our agency so he can get work done, but would like to resolve this issue. Any other ideas out there?

Where do I get a 10.15 client for Mac OS X? Not even on the Citrix site?

Joe - did you get a solution to this? I am having the same problem using ICA Client 10.00.600 on OS X Leopard running on a MacBook.
Most of the time the shift key doesn't seem to be recognised. Neither is the Caps Lock key. Weirdly, pressing shift and 'a' will occasionally result in a capital A but you can't predict when it will happen. If you hold down shift and keep typing a letter you get something like this 'ddddDddDddddDddd'
Thanks for any ideas / help with this.

The 10.00.600 client is the latest and greatest for the Mac. If you having having trouble with the Shift keys being not always recognized, that is a classic cymptom of the Java client. make sure whatever browser the user has actually gets the client hooked in properly. Otherwise, you may be defaulting to the Java client instead, which seems to drop the "modifier" keys, like shift and control, fairly often.

I had this exact problem when launching Remote Desktop Connection from OSX. The fix was on the RDC properties, 3rd tab over under Keyboard section... Apply Windows key combinations (for example alt+tab) should be set to "on the local computer"

Thanks for these replies. It wasn't the Java client but similar to the solution above.
I'm not sure what the set up is exactly as this is a corporate IT implementation of Citrix and I am only a relation of the user of the corporate system... Anyway it turns out that in the overall user settings for remote desktop in this corporation there is a setting which allows the user to use their local keyboard (rather than a virtual remote one?) - once this was set the shift and Caps Lock worked as expected.

It turns out that the VIP user is only having issues with Remote Desktop published through Citrix. When using versions of Outlook or Word he is not having these issues. I have tried many options within Remoted Desktop without any luck. If anyone finds a solution please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I was having this same issue with Remote Access, I was able to correct this going to the Remote Access preferences and selecting keyboard options to be on the local machine. This fixed the shift and caps problem for me. The user needs to expand the options box prior to connecting using Remote Access to fix the settings.

Thanks Beth. We tried all that and I decided to just give it a try again. For some magical reason it is now working. This will really excite some of my end users. We have a growing population of Mac users and they all work from home at some point. Using Remote Desktop through Citrix is the most convenient way for them to work. This is fantastic.
